Massimo Dutti (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmasimo ˈðuti]) is a Spanish clothes manufacturing company that is part of the Inditex group. When founded in 1985, its product range was limited to men's clothing, with a women's range added in 1995. Despite the Italian name, it is a wholly owned Spanish company. The company employs over 4,000 people internationally. In 2003, the company launched a children's line under the trade name Massimo Dutti Boys and Girls. "Massimo Dutti" is not a fashion designer, nor a real person, but a trademark. As Inditex higher-end brand, it is more associated to a masstige market.

Kay shared her experience, "If I could put 0 stars I would. Dreadful customer services. Massimo Dutti sent me the wrong item. It was for my partner's birthday so his present was ruined. I contacted them daily. I emailed them and had no response,at all. I rang daily and They robbed me off. They would not let me speak to supervisor despite my requests. It took them over a week to tell me to return the item. They then refused to pay the shipping costs, despite it being their fault ! They are dreadful. Do not buy from them please. I am out of pocket now by the calls I've made, the shipping costs and this has caused distress and taken up valuable time."

Natasha says

"First order with Massimo Dutti for a few hundred pounds.

Order arrived without being told it was being dispatched.

Wanted to return order and it took 3 online chats for them to acknowledge it had even been dispatched (I could have asked to cancel and got my money back!!!) and for them to be able to set it up so I could request a return.

Finally able to request a return and the only way to return is using a Royal Mail QR code - cannot print the label myself at home! Which means I need to travel to the nearest post office that will print the label (which is not my local post office) in the middle of lockdown in a pandemic when we are being advised not to leave home unless very important. This does not class as important to me.

They need to find a way to let us print the RM returns documents so we can request a pick up from home.

I’ve decided to return my whole order and not buy from them again. Hugely disappointed."

Rachel Hardcastle says

"Ordered 3 items:
1) voucher bought for a christmas present simply did not arrive. Refund eventually sorted
2) Item 2 bought December for birthday present did not arrive. Refund process a nightmare. They say it has been "closed" but the refund is not in my bank account. They deny this and I have had to give up and let them keep my money
3) 3rd item bought for another birthday present. No sign of this either. pressumably this wont arrive either and i will have to let them just keep my money.
This used to be one of my favourite brands- It feels like a company that simply does not care if they lose all their customers and go bust - maybe that's what is happening??"

SF says

"Absolutely appalling customer service - some of the worst I've ever experienced. Avoid at all costs.

After simply trying to return an order that was the wrong size I was provided with incorrect information about this process again and again. I was also sent the wrong returns code which meant that my return was "lost" and not registered at the depot.

I was then promised that the order could be refunded to a gift receipt as it was received for Christmas, only for the adviser to go back on that promise after discussing with "head office"."

Tom Diamantstein says

"I have placed on-line orders total of $672 between Dec 27/2020 and Jan 8/2021.
Received a return of only one item @ $78.99 since it was the store in Ottawa that refunded the item.
I have been unable to obtain Return Labels. The Customer Service line @ 1-877-550-1104 dose NOT answer calls.
Due to the Lock Down and Curfew in Ontario it is impossible to return items at the Ottawa store. Lessons Learned: I will never deal with Massimo Dutti again and hope that I will eventually receive a refund of $593 for ALL items ordered on-line."

Sarah King says

"Trying to get hold of this company is a nightmare, website doesn’t work, they don’t answer the phone or respond to emails. I have a refund outstanding whether I will ever get it is a mystery. No ‘service’ whatsoever, avoid!"

Melanie Brown says

"Never buy anything online from Massimo Dutti! I love the stores and spend a lot of money there. But this has got to be the worst customer service ever. No way of contacting cudtomer service except 'chat' which no-one ever replies to. I sent back my dress which was too big, tracked it and it was delivered. But no acknowledgment and no refund. Not sure what to do, it was £129! They don't seem to realise we are in lockdown in the UK. Awful, awful service. Will never buy from them again."

Charlotte says

"If MD thinks they're going to move to more online shopping (closing stores) then I think people who have experienced the same greedy approach to customers (as many have) should shout out loud and clear- DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SHYSTER COMPANY. Trying to return Christmas gift items- no shipping label provided in the packaging requiring that you request it- then no response/ no shipping label- so much for free returns!!. And now I hear they have not extended the return period in a pandemic when lockdown happened right after Christmas! The customer is ALWAYS right MD- and you will loose and have lost my business when you behave like this!! Open up returns or I will post this every day!"

Jason Chan-lok says

"Tried to return a couple items that were unwanted Xmas presents which I purchased in November. Spoke to their customer services yesterday to be told that Massimo Dutti have not extending their returns policy for Christmas so now I cannot return the goods. Every other retailer that I have bought from over this period has a extended return policy due to the current situation but obviously Massimo Dutti see it as an opportunity to profit from their customers by ensuring people cannot return unwanted gifts. It’s disgraceful and has put me off buying from this retailer ever again."

Throw Away says

"Nothing I have purchased from Massimo Dutti has lasted over a year. Quality far worse than their price suggests."

Loredana says

"Both my last 2 orders in the last 2 months have been firstly confirmed (and payment authorized) and then cancelled by MD. The first time their customer service said that the cancellation was due to a technical glitch in their system (but did nothing to help to put it right and honour my order), the second time I was unable to get through and still do not know the reason why the order was cancelled. Such a huge shame but ordering with MD seems to be a waste of time."

Lia says

"Basically had an order where 1 of the two items I ordered ran out of stock as the order completed. So what happened? Well the money went through for 2 items, but I never got the second item. Trying to call them was impossible, and they never responded to my email inquiries. God awful customer service for the website. If you plan to buy something from them go to the in person stores."

Wiep-Fenna de Jong says

"Do not order online at this company. They have lost my order, nobody is answering email or phonecalls. The service is very, very bad. For a company as big Massimo Dutti customer service should be excellent and it's far from that."

Blair Calvin says

"Why do Massimo Dutti not allow you to check out items as a “ guest “ ?
There registration process has to be the most aggravating I have ever attempted to navigate.
Go to a store."

Hussein Mahfouz says

"I bought a polo shirt from Massimo dutti Online store, I gave it back as the size did not match, after suffering to reach online Chat was unhelpful as he could give me only email to write 4 messages and no one answer me back, I did not get my refund back and I did not get a smaller polo shirt back and I did not get any answer back/ I googled phone number and when I could call them in Dublin Graften street / I heard them on the phone giving out about the complains and customers who are calling and they let me on the phone for a long time and they promised to call me back and then they never called me back, Never gain to buy anything from Massimo dutti Online because if something went wrong with your order , you will get nothing no refund/no goods/no answer...worst store I have ever shopped online"

Carol says

"Takes forever to get your refund"

Jimmy says

"A true example of customer service at its worst."

Ellen Li says

"Returns are stressful like a few others have mentioned.

Recently made an order via the UK website and wanted to do returns, the sudden Tier 4 has meant that all the shops have shut and I'm unable to do returns in store.

Using the online returns sounds simple enough but I've requested a returns label 7 times on 4 different days. I get a notification box each time saying, I'll receive it in my inbox shortly. I finally received it after 4 days.

It sounds like an automated label generation but I have a hunch they are manually generated so you will have to wait until a working day (not weekend/holiday day) to receive anything it might take a few days so don't leave your returns too close to the end of your returns period."

Yvonne says

"Purchased some items in the UK. Massimo dutti does not send out return label. All they provide you with is a QR code that needs to be scanned at the post office.

I have spoken to customer service asking for an actual return label as I am organising a home collection (at my expense, but will first require an actual label). However, they have refused and state that they do not provide the actual label. This is despite being in a national lockdown (items were ordered prior to that) and a trip to the post office would definitely not be essential"

Eileen Burton says

"I recently ordered a pair of jogging fit trousers which were in the sale; however did not like style so returned. I then ordered the Total Look straight jogging trousers which, when I first tried on I liked very much. They're a kind of knit fabric. However were much too long but as I liked them, I took them up. I've worn them round the house 2-3 times and the fabric has pilled and gone very baggy. Also the elastic in the waistband has rolled over. Although they were in the sale, they were still not really cheap so think these are not good value for money. They have no review/feedback function on their website so difficult to let them know. In fairness, the delivery, returns and refund were all handled quickly."

John says

"Delivery was quick despite COVID Christmas period, quality seems to be decent, presentation nice. Only problem is that their website info is disconnected from reality:

Jacket colour: "Ochre" which is an orangey colour, jacket is grey in the pictures and grey in reality. If there's any ochre at all it's a very slight hint, so slight I'm not sure it's even there.

That's whatever because I could see in the pictures, but the sizing is COMPLETELY OFF. Website states sizes as 42 & 44, states those translate into 40.9" and 42.5" chest which in my mind is about M and L. What I received was an XL and an XXL which, as you might guess, are way too big. The 42/XL measures 50" at the chest, which means it's supposed to be worn by someone with approx 48-49" chest. RIDICULOUS!

So in reality, me, someone who usually buys M/L approx 44" chest jackets and has approx 42" chest, needs to buy a '38' which apparently measures '37.8"' according to the size guide.

Edit: Guessed right... 38 was the right size. 38 which on Massimo Fantussi-land measures 37.8" but in reality actually fits a man with a 42" chest and measures 45". They also provided no inside leg measurement for the pants which as usual, turned out to be too long for me (an about average height male).

Refunded me £25.95 after 8 days, currently still owed £239."
